The press… Nirapon was established as a common platform, by global RMG brands, for whom Bangladesh is an important sourcing destination, to sustain and build on the safety achievements of the past six years. More than 600 factories are functioning under Nirapon, which requires that the National Action Plan be met on a continued basis, as well as synchronized standards for physical, structural, fire, and electrical safety.

“Nirapon is created as a common platform by global RMG brands for whom Bangladesh is an important sourcing destination to sustain and build on the past six years’ remarkable safety achievements,” said its CEO, Moushumi M Khan. Barrister Imtiaz said Nirapon, which is the continuation of Alliance for Bangladesh Workers Safety, has no permission from Bangladesh Investment Development Authority to operate in Bangladesh. With the Alliance no longer in place, Nirapon is a welcome step forward towards greater worker safety in the Bangladesh industry. It will feature worker helplines, structural, fire, and electrical safety audits in participating factories that will be monitored by local engineers – who will then report back to participating brands.
